may sound a silly question but does the girth rule (no prey larger than 1.5 x girth of the snake) apply to royals as it does for lets say corns?

i used to follow that rule with my royal, now i just go by feeding prey 10-15% of the royal's body weight. I find that rule easier to follow.

But yes the girth rule does apply to royals as well as cornsnakes and other snakes, i believe.

I tend to go with the 10-15% rule or the same girth as the royal.

As with Daz, with Royals I would only go as far as the same girth as the Royal, not as far as 1.5x the girth.

Also as with everyone else, I tend to go for 10-15% of the body weight.

This is why I like Carpets, it has been known (though I would never try and find out) that up to 5x is possible with them. Twice their girths is VERY easy for them.

With the Royals I tend to stick to circa their girth to 1.5x though

I go by the 10-15% of body weight. size can be mis-leading.
