RUBS!

Okay then...

Right, so where do you all get your rubs from? I literally discovered I have £600 that I didn't know I had today (Found out that for the last year of working as a security guard I've been building up holiday time I didn't know I was entitled to :D) so I'm seriously fighting back temptation to buy more snakes >.< I've never bought a real rub only made my own from Tupperware boxes so just curious where you guys get yours. I looked on really useful boxes website but they charge like literally the same price as the box itself for delivery, it's insanity!

Depends what size you want? If you want up to 84litre then staples, argos etc sell them. Argos do 50litre RUBS for £11. I have 2 of the 145litre RUBS that I had to buy direct from RUB as nowhere seems to sell them. They were £34 + £11 delivery but they measure 30"x24"x18". If you're after a BIG RUB I really recommend them.

Yes, an 84lt is roughly 2/3 the size of a 3' x 18" x 18" viv - forgot about Argos.

So a 145lt would be the same volume, if not more, than a standard 3' viv ... at £45 - sounds like excellent value! Easier to clean as well!

See this always confused me, surely if you measure the size of your rub in litres then it could be any way shape or form depending on where you get it from, what if you order a 9l rub and it's really really tall but quite thin? :P

They should quote you the dimensions.

Yeah, you don't want to end up with a brewing barrel!

(Useful for other things though ...)

Okay having a little trouble with my rubs, humidity problems again as I had with my last one.

Am using a 9l one with 2 rows of small 1cm holes across both length ways sides as ventilation. One water bowl on the cool side big enough to fit my little ones in and one hide.

Temp is about 32c-33c in the warm end and the humidity on the warm side is 80% which is too high but I can't think how to reduce it :( Any ideas?

Pics in this situation would be great.
sounds like there could be a circulation problem because of how you have the holes. If air is circulating properly then the humidity should be pretty much constant throughout the rub.

If you look on the lid of the rub there's grooves all along i place a small hole between each of these grooves in the lid. At the cool end 4 holes on the lower quarter of the rub. At the hot end another 4 holes on the upper quarter of the rub both at the narrow ends. This circulates the air, cooler air being drawn in from lower down and mixed with warm air from higher up.

How much of the heat mat is the rub covering?
Also Your water bowl may just be too large.

pic shows size of water bowl in 5l rub will get one on here showing air holes.

Thanks, I think I'll change some of the air holes later to see if that helps, will feed them let them finish the meal then get to work on the rubs again.
