i agree it is very creative, i would never have thought about putting plexiglass on the front of a rub to make it look like a viv

I got that idea from this guy on rfuk who has a rub set-up for his green tree pythons. It was so cool I copied the concept. Unforunately, I couldn't find the pictures anymore...

Is it the case with most of you that Royals do better in RUB's?
Also, sorry if I'm being daft but why do they not need lamps in rub's but do in Vivs?

Thanks

when you say lamps do you mean heat lamps?

you use heat lamps in vivs because you shouldn't use heat mats inside vivs where the royal can come into contact with it in case it causes thermol blocking then you risk burning the snake. where as if you keep your royal in a rub the rub sits above a heat mat so the snake will never come into contact with the mat

like blackskull said, royals should not really come into direct contact with heat mats, as it causes thermal blocking. also you cant really use a bulb in a rub as it will melt the plastic

Thanks guys, you may have solved my problem! Maybe I can have another corn and a Royal after all!
I have two vivexotic lx48 vivs but they can stack 3 high so I was going to get another for a royal but they aren't really tall enough for heat lamps and I couldnt get the bigger viv because of the weight of it on top of the other two! Anyway now I'll be able to get another lx48 for a corn and have a rub somewhere else for a royal

Hi Louise,
If you use a drill to make the holes you can then use a countersink bit to de-burr them. Worked for me.

I've just gotta say Anatess I'm very impressed with your RUB setup, it is superb and is exactly how I want to do my RUBs for my corn when the time comes and for my other snakes when I get them.
