Thought i would have a go at making my own water bowl for Florence. I'm lucky that i have access to clay kilns and ceramic glazes but this is my first atempt at using them!
The bowl has a natural form design, I used leaf shapes and textured the clay by pressing seed pods and shells etc into it to create a patterned surface. The raw clay bowl:
Then it went into the kiln at 1045degrees C The bisque fire looks like this:
Then i glazed it. I used a lead free glaze that is meant to look like verdigris but its more like silver with turquoise splashes. The glaze fire was at 1100 C. Glazes can be hit and miss but i'm really happy with the result.
The final piece!:
The glaze is alot paler in reality than my rubbish photography shows!
I'm thinking of making her a hide when she is fully grown so got time to practice my techniques! Sorry if this is a bit "show and tell" but I'm all excited about her new bowl!

Not up for taking orders just yet but thanks for the compliment! It took ages to make but most of the time is in the firing process and im not patient enough so found it a frustrating process! Definitly going to make a hide though!...watch this space!!!
