Hi
Guybrush shed last night while he has sitting with me on the sofa, so I managed to get a good look at the process. I noticed that several times he seemed to stop to take a breather and have a little drink. Then when there was about an inch and half to go he stopped and started licking where the shed was joined to the skin as if he was wetting the area before the final push. He spent about 5-10 mins licking all the way around and then popped his tail out. He managed a nice clean shed, I would guess about 40 mins from nose rubbing to finish

What an honour to be able to observe it! I've often wondered how long it takes and if they stop half way etc.. thanks for that!

It was lovelly, I couple of times I gently held his skin in place while he wiggled out of it to give him a hand. There was a bit of wood on the sofa which he rubbed his nose on and and he had just had a nice bath in his washing up bowl on the sofa.

Unfortunately my hands were too busy holding him and helping him and I did not want to risk startling him. I thought about asking my husband but he seemed to have his own issues with Cassi the rainbow boa going up his trouser leg

The thing that really supprised me was when he started licking himself to aid shedding, I'd never heard of them doing that before.

Wow congrats, iv seen bow shed before, but it was a bad shed after the mites and olive oil treatment, so didn't want to disturb so didn't watch it all. But to actually have your royal shed in your lap is amazing.
Sounds strange that he started to lick himself round where the shed was, never heard of that

I'd never heard of it either but he was quite deliberate and systematic as he licked all the way around, and I'm so glad he didn't poo on me. He saved that until the next day while in his viv.
