Titan started to shed 2 nights ago, not very sucessfully, got up this morning to him looking a very sorry state. just bathed him and let him rub himself through my wet hands. I now have a lovely shed free snakey apart from a little on the underneath of his face which he is rubbing off by himself.
Thanks to this website for all the hints I've read on how to help your Python when things don't quite happen as they're meant to  |

| Bless him - yes I too found the forum invaluable when my lad Shahi, who came as a hatchling, had a few scruffy sheds. His last one was perfect - a lovely wadded up ball of skin, which is probably what you'll find Titan presents you with next time around. |

| Even the ones who usually do shed well will sometimes have a bad shed, my CB09 lemon pastel took two weeks to get rid of a spectacle (eye cap) despite a wet box, humidifying her viv, shed aid and bathing and wet towels, but she eventually did and looks beautiful :) |

| Poor Titan has still got shed left on the underneath of his face but I just don't think I can do anything about that, he's very timid and nervous so I don't want to stress him out by sticking him in the bath and soaking him again. I've put in a humid hide which has upped the humidity and I'm hoping over the next couple of days he will rub it off by himself apart from that he looks lovely now and he ate 2 fuzzies yesterday which I was pleased with :) |

Glad he's eaten - sounds like he's enjoying life with you.
Yes, the skin underneath his jaw isn't an emergency - if it was eyecaps or tailtip you would have to intervene. It's in a ticklish place as well, especially if he's a shy boy; most royals hate having their heads touched, except for my Surahi, who I've found actually seems to enjoy having her chin gently stroked - strange snake!
With any luck the damp hide will help Titan. The only other tip I can think of is, if it doesn't come off in a few days, to put him in a ventilated rub with a damp to slightly soggy towel, close the lid and keep the whole set-up as warm as his normal habitat and supervised for 20 minutes or so, which may well loosen the skin, especially if he zooms around exploring, as he will. Lifting him in and out shouldn't stress him too much, bless him. They're all wusses! |
