I'm just wondering how many of you who have been in the non feeding club have found yourself ditching your membership?
There seems to be a lot of positive feeding posts just lately, mine included!
So...Do you think its the coming of spring? Nature is a powerful force and even though our seasons are not matched with our African snakes, they must surely feel the pull of nature? or is it just their sense of our cold depressing winters, the time to hibernate coming to an end? The most common reason given for fasting is that this has been their mating season which I accept but it seems to be so different for us all and i dont see why males would fast in the mating season when they would need their strength.
Florence has just come full circle, tonight, after a couple of weeks of mice feeds to tempt her back, she has eaten a 50gram weaner rat I had to heat the rat's head and strike feed her but hey....a rat is a rat!!!!! What's more, she has been in and out of her hide sinse about 4pm as if waiting to be fed! Her posture was definitely food based!
So? what are your thoughts and stories? Fasting or feasting? Anorexic or just a small appetite?
Lets hope more and more non feeders change their minds this spring? |

its not much bigger than he feeds on, he just looks at it for a while then leaves it alone |

Do you feed in his usual enclosure (viv/faun/rub). I can't even begin to say I've been in the non feeding club really so I am ill equipt for giving advice, my corn went off food for 1 week and the royal is new and was settling in and the advice I'd been given about feeding him was rubbish. Then a Gmac swooped in, zapped the evil advice with a ray of common sense and he fed straight away. Moral of the story, ask Gmac. |

yeah i always feed him the same way in his viv, heat them up the same way weather its the large weaner or slightly bigger rat, don't change anything just the rat but not he not interested in the larger but if i put the weaner in its a different story, comes straight over to it and takes it. maybe he just doesn't want the larger size
sorry just hijacked the thread, will keep it on topic |

Stick to weaners until he is a smidge bigger, even move the feeds to every 5 days if you don't think a weaner is enough. |

he is fully grown, im feedin him every 7 days. ive even left him a couple of weeks btween feeds to see if that makes a difference but he wont take it. may be its the time of year with some fastin an all. thought i would be able to increase his size with ease as had no trouble getting him from mice to rats (he was an adult when i got him they were feeding him on xl mice) well the main thing he is eating will just keep trying |

I wonder if size does matter to a royal then? Florence seemed put off by larger food when i increased the size. Dr Chop, fingers crossed the spring might encourage him to eat.x |

Saada and Surahi fasted for 6 weeks in the new year; Shahi for five - not worth entering them in the non-feeding club. Then they all started feeding again - but last week they all refused.
Isn't that just royals for you?
Don't think they'll starve just yet!
Luckily the rodents don't go to waste - the corns see to that. |

Hi there no luck yet abbey's last feed was oct going to try again later today. alfie only 5 weeks. While we are on the subject is it better to start small and work back up to the size they had last year any thought. Good luck. |

Yes - I've heard that said before, start them back on smaller prey, and it's true that a small mouse (refused by a blue corn) got Shahi eating again.
Good luck to us all! |

All my CB10's are eating and haven't stopped but none of my 09 and 08s have yet to feed but I offer each week and will remain patient as they will eventually :) |
