Well I suspect shed is coming up to shedding possibly. But her eyes aren't blue or glazed over and she is eating so it makes you wonder if not. But she is looking very dull, what do you guys think?

Ohh no Hate having to clean her poo out lol. Looking forward to seeing if she is coming into shed though. With her eyes been black (darker than blue) will they go lighter and then blue? Or just like a white glaze or something? Never seen a royal in blue before... |

My humidity is between 55-60. As soon as the eyes clear i put some damp moss in a plastic takeaway tub and put it in the hot end. This takes the humidity to about 70-75 and gives me clean sheds every time. |

Her eyes aren't like that, but she is getting duller and starting to feel a little rougher... Some pictures took 5 minutes ago...

bit hard to tell from the pics but description sounds right. Eyes are the last sign, pink belly first. |

Her belly looked a bit pink in that photo. The belly is the first sure sign with Florence. The whole process takes longer than you think though so plenty of time yet! |

Her belly is indeed very pink today. So I am not going to handle her until I find a shed in her RUB. Would it also be wise to not offer food? Or should I keep on offering? |

Heres more pictures. Her belly is very pink in real life but you can't really see it too clearly on the picture... Although you can tell how dirty and dull she looks. Really cannot wait to see her unique pattern freshly shed!!

Yep thats pink. At this stage i would double check humidity is around 60%. then as soon as the eyes clear after being blue i add some damp moss under hot hide or at the hot end. Mine shed 12-24hrs after this. works every time for me. |

I don't have a humidity tester as I was told Royals dont need any kind of special humidity levels? Although would a warm shallow bath help? Like maybe in a week or something when shes near to actually shedding? |

I wouldnt physicaly bath her, just put a moss hide in or put a damp cloth or thin sponge into a hide so she can use it if she wants, also spray the walls and any wood logs etc in the viv with water once or twice a day. Should do the trick! |

I will start spraying tomorrow, just give her a light misting in a morning. She lives under her big cork bark hide as she is in a RUB at the moment, bit small for an actual hide, so she hides under there, I shall lift that off her and give her a light misting of warm water. |

Mmmm royals do need a certain humidity level. I really don't understand why people are saying they don't. That's why so many suffer with poor sheds or other problems related to low or high humidity. Also pls don't just start spraying the habitat if your not sure what the humidity is to start with. It could be low just right or to high. Relative humidity in a room is roughly 40-50%. Royals need 50-60%. with central heating or certain bulbs this can drop dramatically. Last minute bathing is not the way forward, providing the correct humidity year round is. Sorry for abrupt reply. |

By spraying your snake directly you can cause them to cold out and develop respiratory problems also. |

Cheers sandi. Oh how Original sorry if my reply was a bit sharp. Yes i've spoken to some that don't believe humidity is a problem. They are probably fortunate to have the correct relative humidity in their home but unfortunately this isn't the case for everyone. I feel that humidity is as important as temperature it's part of the habitat we are trying to replicate. I believe you at least need to know what the humidity is or have a means of measuring it when needed. |

I don't mind a sharp reply at all. I was just always told by everyone who owns Royals they don't need any kind of special humidity. They don't get it in any shops I know. Or anyone I know who owns one they don't. And they always shed fine. My male shed fine without any special treatment.
