Hi all. I have been offered a Female normal CB08 that is only 600 grms and 2.5 ft long. As it was a poor feeder to begin with, it hasnt grown much. Is it still possible for me to feed her up to become ok to breed from? The owner hasnt up the size of the prey from med rat weeners.

Thanks in advance

I would assume she would breed fine if she could get to the right weight, but if I was looking for a female royal with the intention of breeding it, I wouldn't get that one.

mine is a early cb08 and shes almost 4ft and weighs 1235g so I'd say that one isnt a 08. I know all snakes are different but i dont think there would be that much a difference but dont quote me

i agree with nok slighlty, but if you say she has always been a picky eater and is only on rat weaners then it is possible she is underweight and 800grams.
it is possible that she will start eating and get to weight, but could take time to get eating again if she is a problem feeder. she would eventually get to weight, but you dont know how long

Hi Nok - how's things? Long time no see!

I've got a cf09 girl (Saada) who's a very good feeder, only been in the non feeding club for 6 weeks, and who only weighed 10gm more than Shahi, who's a cf10 (admittedly big for his age - 459gm on 6 Jan 11) when I weighed them on the same day.

Orlina's a nice weight - my cb06 girl Surahi is just on 1300gm.

They really are all different.

Well the good news is....she has two lol. They are both housed together (Which i think might have been the problem from day one with not feeding but thats another thread) and she has had them from hatchies.

So is it worth having the 2 for £40? i just need to know that they will one day get to breeding size with the right coaching?

If your intentions are for breeding then I would leave them.
Get an 08 that's had a much better and less stress free start.
Won't be paying that more in the long run and you'll be a lot closer
to trying to breed. Just my take on it.

My take would be to go with your gut. If you like a challenge and think your upto bringing her to a breeding weight then go for it. I'm guessing you already have your mind made up so let us know how she gets on.

Hello Steve,
If it helps I've just become the proud owner of an early 2008 royal, Tia, that is only 80cm long and weighs 484g. From the very beginning she was only fed every two weeks at the most. From what I've read on this forum this could well be the reason she is so small. She is also too flaccid and needs to be firmed up. She has just eaten two large mice, which is not bad considering I only fed her 5 days ago, even though it was 1 fairly small mouse.
I don't know about breeding, but like you I'm aiming to fatten her up considerably.
I'm certainly not an expert, but I'd say just build them up, give them plenty of TLC and see how they are nearer the time.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
