Hopefully this one isnt a duplicate thread like my one about usernames!
Some of the names I've seen on here are great, what do some of the more cryptic ones mean and why did you give your snake the name they have?
With Jessie, we didnt know if she was a boy or a girl so gave her the name Jessie as it could be easily turned into Jesse if she turned out to be a fella  |

| Mine's the same as my username :P Margwar is a Cornish Sea Serpent, the next one we get is going to be called Nessy, as in the Loch Ness Monster, I'm going to try and persuade the boyfriend to keep the sea serpent theme going :P |

Scar is named for the obvious, his battle-scars on his back.
Diablo was the name we wanted for our boa, but we couldnt fit a boa viv in so we gave it to the next royal to pop along.
Cleo is named after cleopatra who took a liking to royal pythons.
Valhalla is named after odin's mead hall as i'm obsessed with norse mythology and gods.
Anubis will be my new mojave, seems fitting for a mojave morph.
Our pinstripe doesnt have a name yet |

LOL - yes yes yes! I did a thread a while back - but as with usernames, where's the harm in duplicating? And there are a lot more people on here now - so here goes:
My corn snakes all have corny American names - Buffy (Carolina) Saffron (butter) and Spooky (ghost) are self explanatory. Spider is an anery and got her name as I was putting her into her new home ('come on, Spider.') Cy was named by my ex when I told him I'd bought a one-eyed snake, in case nobody else would have her. ('What you going to call it then? Cyclops?')
Shahi, my first royal, got his name because I had a craze for studying Urdu. What's Urdu for royal? Shahi.
Saada's name came before she did. Saada ... Arabic for 'happpiness'. Then Saada arrived.
Similarly with Surahi. A surahi is one of those Asian water pitchers with the slim neck and plump belly. Just the name for a royal python! |

sully is named after the singer from a band called godsmack
cilla was named by my gf as i named one of her rabbits
clover is named after a metallica song called no leaf clover
and when i get a male pastel he will be called lars after the metallica drummer |

Corn snake -- Mixi (My oldest son chose the name. Bad move.)
Royal -- Tia (I wanted to name our daughter Tia. Unfortunately we had two boys.) We're not trying for third time lucky.

Well i did say this before in bats' thread so with the risk of repetition,...I have synesthesia so its all about colour. Florence (the word) is the same colour as a typical normal royal, golden browns. Boris is grey/beige...the colour of my boa!
Oddly, and to my great pleasure, i have just found out that Adele, the singer, also has synesthesia! wonder if she has pets?! |

My normal Royal is called Tiger Eye 'cause his colours and patterns reminded me of a Tiger Eye stone, the way the colours change and move lookes like the patterns on Tig.
Pandora was my Corn snake and she was named after the legend of Pandora's Box. I only had a small peice of cork bark for her as a baby and she didn't like it so for a while I gave her a little cardboard box instead. When my sibling's friends came to see her they asked what it was and I said, jokingly "that's Pandora's box". So the name just stuck X ) |

| Orlina was already named Orlina when we got her seemingly its french for golden. Her full name now is Orlina Bodhi Lobsang (law-sang) bodhi means awaken and Lobsang means fine mind. The new one coming soon is called Sedrick (the wife thinks its a shame to change it cause he'll be used to it lol) still to pick the buddhist names for him though |

Well I can only explain a few names as some are +25 rated :)
Wednesday is named after Wednesday in The Adams family as she`s a dark looking YB
Kinky Malinki got named after the DJ, because sometimes when she wobbled it looked like she was raving.
Apple the Pinstripe, the day we bought her she made this tight little ball all the way home and when we got home and took her out the bag she stayed in that little ball in my hand and she looked just like an apple.
Phiaska my girlfriend liked the name(but got a little more to it)
Luna is named after The goddess of the moon.
Pacino got his name as I'm an Al Pacino fan and when we got him he had this gangster look(sounds strange but its true lol)
Then our odd ball we named The Odyssey. Odysseus went on a long journey after the Trojan war and that journey were called The Odyssey. Me and Tanya looked at it this way, its gonna be a long "journey" trying to prove him out. (If that all makes sence LOL)

Just have to add an update ...
For a while now I've known there was a snow or albino corn coming, even though I don't usually care for pale coloured snakes. I also knew she would need a bit of understanding. (If this sounds weird, I can't help it - it's not the first time an animal has announced itself long before its arrival.) A few days ago I knew her name was Mistletoe. Then I went on Preloved and there she was, a year old snow stripe corn with 'a little bit of an attitude problem.' Therefore not a 'family pet' or a snake for a complete novice.
She's fabulous. And she let me handle her today with no trouble, but she is viv-defensive, so I'll be careful in the weeks to come, of course.
So, that's my new addition, Mistletoe, or, her corny American nickname, Missy ... |

you know Lilith was supposedly the first wife of Adam - although a deity in her own right, and because she refused to submit to patriarchal rule she was cast out of Eden, so she had a bit of fun shape changing into a snake ...
....well, wasn't Adam's fault was it?
Just thought the missus was giving him his apple crumble ...
