The guy selling her said he can't hold the snake for me, and I'd need at least a week to get the money as I'm buying £600 of royals this thursday :P what a pain, going to need to miraculously find £220 asap before the thing sales now |

Me and the girlfriend live at my parents, my mum is the manager of an old folks home and she has to live on site so she gets provided with a 4 bedroom house, the boa is taking the smallest bedroom where the kids sleep over (lucky them lol) Unfortunately we have a very narrow hallway leading to that room, just finished measuring and the viv fits through it sparing half an inch each side and an inch above lol, going to be very very close. |

On a side note, thinking about rooms and what-not. We have a large cupboard under the stairs which is about 6x3 is there any reason I couldn't insulate it, fit in a guard, stat the light and put a ceramic bulb in and use it to keep the snake there? Basically turn it into a makeshift viv?
I was thinking about the vibrations from people walking up and down the stairs bothering the snake but im not sure how vibrration travels, if it travels through the air I can imagine it bothering the snake but if it travels through the surface (the stairs) i'm guessing traveling through the wallls and into the floor would dull it down?
What you all reckon? |

I reckon it might not be a very good idea, noise-wise. I know snakes don't hear as we do, but the vibrations might be like living under a railway bridge, especially with a few people living in the house.
Also, unless you could rig up a glass or perspex door, the snake would have no natural light.
This is just off the top of my head, mind - I've no experience of planning accommodation for a big snake.
All the best!
(ps, wish me luck, I'm going to collect my little girl tomorrow - only Wakefield to Halifax but omg public transport's a pain!!) |

Yeah terrible idea I agree.
Also, you get to show her off to random people though and are almost guarenteed two seats on whatever you get on hehhehe.
I know a professional photographer who is going to do some shots of my snakes, he was going to give me a lift to his studio but decided it'd be far more funny to watch me try to board a bus with an 8ft boa constrictor and 3 royal pythons lol |

LOL - no, she'll be all snug in a pillowcase in a kitchen roll lined polybox (with air holes.) If anyone asks me what I've got in there I'll just say 'a frog' or 'a hamster' (unless I'm feeling evil and antisocial and want to clear the bus - which, given my reclusive nature, is how I'm going to be feeling lol.)
No, it's just that I might have to wait an hour for a direct bus back ... have to take a good book and go to the cafe ... pity she can't sit on my knee and have a sip out of my teacup ...wouldn't THAT cause a riot eh? |

That would be brilliant! Do it!
Times like these I wish I lived in america where the air temp is suitable for snakes (and unsuitable for humans) |

LOL - judging by the advert she'd be fastened on me finger - especially as she doesn't know me, bless her!
By the way, I'm not weird, but I've known for a while now that there was a white snake named Mistletoe coming, and that she was a girl who needed an understanding home...it isn't that I see a 'feisty' snake as some sort of challenge, it's just that she's obviously not going to be suitable as a 'family pet' or complete newbie's snake, and like Cy with one eye (who I also knew about weeks before I was told about her) I want her because no-one else might want her ...
Uh ... you will see that I'm NOT a professional breeder in the making eh?
You know I've been thinking about your understairs cupboard as well ...
If only the stairs could be drastically insulated, then rip out the cupboard completely, and door, and rebuild with glass or perspex panels and door, there'd be space and height for lavish climbing branches ...fantastic display gallery for boa ...
Trouble is, could be landlord and wallet problems, I do see that... |
