on the 4th march this year i sold what i thought was a female normal royal. I told the buyer that i had not probed the snake but i was told buy the previous owner that it was female. Anyway, i got a text last week off the new owner telling me he had had it probed and was a male. I was shocked but i did warn him to a degree that it was not 100% female and that i was going off the previous owners verbal confirmation. He now expects me to give him his money back. Now i am usually a very amicable guy and i would have been willing to do that if he had come back to me within a week or so, but its way over a month! How would i even know it was the same snake? Where do you draw a line at timescale? I sold it for £40 (it being an 09 normal). I suggested he would get his money back selling it on but he seems to think he can pick them up for £20?
Let me know your thoughts guys...

| hmm u did warn him that its wasnt 100 percent female , after a month i would have thought he should sell it on himself ? thats my thoughts.... |

| You sold it unsexed no matter what you said to him you hadn't probed it and he didn't probe it when you gave it to him, wouldn't give him a penny back mate. Maybe if it was an expensive morph he was planning to breed you could come to some arrangement but if he kicks up a fuss over the low price he paid for it anyway then I wouldn't bother. |

To be fair, his intention was to breed and he asked for a female only. What ever you buy, there is always a risk unless you check everything there is to check ...ie - probing. He didnt even ask for feeding records etc. Was in my house for no more than 2 mins and left. He told me he had tonns of expierience in snakes! I even gave him the option out of 2 that i was selling! What more can i do? I agree with you kelf... if it was a high value morph, then i would be prepared to do something, even at this late stage. But lets face it guys, if you went to buy a high end morph, you would want everything in writing etc... so why not when its a normal??
He has just text me to say he will name and shame me on RFUK and on Preloved!!! |

Let him, it'll be spammed off the forums on rfuk in about ten seconds by all the thousands of other pointless posts that get chucked in there by complete bloody idiots, besides you have a good twenty or so people on here who can vouch for you when it comes to your reliability.
At the end of the day he was a lazy idiot who either couldn't probe himself or couldn't be bothered to i'd just ignore him now if it were me.
As for papers and such people don't tend to want them with normals because they're so cheap, the fact he's kicking up a fuss is pathetic he could sell it on in less than a week if he wanted to. |

If he was looking for a female then surely he would have arranged for it to be probed and proven before he bought it. If your advert doesn't say its 100% female but is presumed female then he's not a leg to stand on. Tell him he can name and shame all he wants but slander is still against the law. Male or female £40 is a bargain.
My concern would be the welfare of the snake he now doesn't want. |

| Only just seen this, I would have only sent him a tenner back, amale 09 is worth at least 50 as it is closer to breeding weight, but yes a female would-be more. To me 20 quid is a steal to the guy |

I'm a member on three other pets forums and firstly I can tell you that that sort of attitude doesn't bode well for the person giving it. People just don't like people that bitch on about other forum members like that. All it ever acheives is them looseing friends. Not so long ago there was a post on another forum telling everyone about how this person hated the other 'cause they'd done this and that and over a month later there are still people who won't answer any posts they make 'cause they don't want anything to do with them anymore. Of course the post was removed, but people still saw it before hand, including me, and what they said was quite nasty and a bit cruel. So I wouldn't worry about him telling others a pack of lies 'cause it'll only be him that suffers from it.
Seconly, I wouldn't have payed him either, so your better than me! I just hope snakey finds a good new home. And yes, it'll be rid of a very big (not so tasty) rat! |

Well i'm pleased with the feedback so far. Exactly what i was thinking. I have offered the money purely on the basis that i am absolutely fed up with the grief i keep getting from him. For £20 to shut someone up is worth it to me. Not only that, i told him i wouldnt pay until he had apologised for the way in which he text me and for calling me a con artist. He has apologised like a little kid that he is. Check out the pic below, its one of the messages he sent. My comment is in green.
