I want to ask if the owners of Boas have same problem feeding thier snake like royals owner ? Boa seems a good snake to have too, so if there will not be problems feeding it i might search for a one to buy |

Boa's are better feeders than Royals, to be honest most snakes are better feeders than a Royal. |

Hi, Tawfik, how's things? Hi, Bob and good morning.
Nah, royals are brilliant feeders. Just not all the year round ...
But boas are cool, got to admit, and good feeders, I hear. If you have a boa and a royal in the same house, you have to quarantine the boa for a least 3 months because of IBD (inclusion body disease) which may not affect the boa but is fatal to a python. Lovely snakes - almost bought one myself a few weeks back. |

it depends really, i have had my boa 2 weeks now, and both two weeks she has refused to eat for me , whereas my male royal fed first week i got him, but my female took 7 weeks to eat (hope the boa does not try to beat this) but really once a boa starts eating they never stop really from what iv heard, so looking forward to that part |

Well hi everybody I'm asking because Blitz didn't eat yet, it's been 5 weeks, i know it's a normal period and royals can servive more, but i just want him to feel good and start eating. I tried to force feed him last week and he refused to open his mouth, and i'm afraid too the his body become week to kill a hamster by him self (i don't know if this could happen or it's just me who image that ) Anyway, i'll give him another week and try again. |

2 of my royals have fed every week, with the exception if them being in blue, without fail, the boa is the same.
My adult royal eats whenever he wants really,
Its a hard call to say boas are better feeders than royals, royals just don't need fed every week is just they way they are made. |

Boas eat well, royals eat well. Boas eat without thinking, royals think before eating. |

looool .. good expression sandi GMac, I think Royals are amazing, but they are also a little bit more shy for a SNAKE, if u know what i mean, that's all. |

Wish I could get my boa consistent feeding, got a feed in her week before last but no interest this week, hopefully if I leave her be for another week she might take, maybe she likes 2 week feeds :P
Just wish she'd give me notice as the giant rats I get her are bloody expensive, £3.50 a pop |

@kelfezond, Dont you refreeze them after a failed feed? I read that a single refreeze is OK, and that some snakes actually prefer the slightly gamier smell of a rat thats on its second defrost |

i would never re-freeze a meal as it looses all the nutrients when u re-freeze it again. its like if u buy fresh meat, and then freeze it, and defrost it all and then put half the defrosted raw meat back in the freezer, you just wouldnt |

It loses nothing, the meat itself is still there, everything in the meat is still there, the ice cyrstals damage it on a cellular level but not in a way that could cause any harm. The issue with thawing and refreezing is a bacterial one, and snakes can easily deal with a bit of added bacteria its us humans that don't do refrozen meat, its tough and tastes wrong but cooked properly even for us wimpy humans its safe. |
