Dio had his first strike feed last night . It wasn't expected and scared the OH so he dropped it. Luckily Dio finally ate the mouse after a while.

I'm a bit annoyed that i missed it but i've got a very poorly Asti to look after at the moment . Hopefully i'll get to see it next time.

The OH got more bits to pack the viv out so when i'm there next i'll take some photo's. We've had to get rid of his much loved hamster logs but he was getting a bit to big for them.

Congrats Dio (and OH too!)

Quite often they can strike (and I think they shock themselves if it's for the first time lol) and drop the prey - but they generally do go back to it later ... 'Ooo ... did I kill that?? Better eat it then ... nom nom ...'

Sorry to hear about Asti. Get well soon Asti and all the best.

I'm hoping now he's done it once he'll do it everytime. I may have to invest in some tongs.

Unfortunately it looks like Asti's had a stroke so it's just a case of making her comfortable until i can get a vets appointment tomorrow.

Aww poor Asti! poor little thing.

Good news on the strike though, don't think Duke will ever do that so good for Dio

Ah, sorry to hear about Asti ...but she's had a very very good life with you by the sound, and been much loved and cared for.

Yes, tongs are a must. Wilko kitchen tongs with hideous yellow plastic grips ...if snakey misses and bangs the snakey nose, they are softer than metal ... and only cost £2 or so!

lotabob you never know. I never thought Dio would strike feed as if you went anywhere near him while he was going to eat he'd back away and just leave it.

I would like to think she's been well cared for. How many people would pay upto £140 to have a rat operated on lol. I feel bad watching her trying to move that i've even considered whether i can use Dio to put her out of her misery sooner.

I'll have to find the nearest Wilko and get some.

The OH fed Dio again today and he stuck again but missed the mouse and got the OH's thumb Yet again i missed it. The OH's got into the annoying habit of feeding Dio the day before i go around so i can't get him out and say hello. It's been 2 weeks now since i've seen Dio (and the OH but thats ok lol) as i couldn't leave Asti last weekend just incase.

You need to get that fella told. lol. Dio won't be affected in any way at all if he waited a day until you were there.

Hmmm...methinks it wouldn't bother Dio to have his feeding day delayed by 24 hrs (he probably wouldn't even notice) and methinks it wouldn't hurt the OH to receive a bit of fightback ...

I'd google 'Lysistrata' if I were you ...

Believe me he has been told and will be told again when i see him. I want to try that lyclear treatment for mites but that will be impossible if he's always being fed before i get there. It make's me hope he won't eat lol.

BATS don't worry he won't be getting that this weekend anyway lol.

I told him again and i think he must of felt bad as he's said i can stay at his until Wednesday so i can have Dio cuddles tomorrow once he's digested his mouse. He managed to eat an XL mouse which means he's skipped one size of mouse.
