It is really good - covers all aspects of royals, including a huge section on morphs and genetics (about which I'm an ignoramus lol) and loads on health, breeding, handling and the origins of royals in Africa. I'd quibble on a couple of points of husbandry, but otherwise, a book I wouldn't be without.
Doesn't seem to be generally available in this country; i got a pristine hardback copy via Amazon but otherwise it only seems available in some rep stores as an import ... shame. There doesn't seem to be anything else as comprehensive about royals - or not so far as I know.
I'm sure your OH will be delighted. |

I don't mean to be cheeky but could you link me to the book please? I've got a real taste for reading up on new topics recently and I don't actually own a book on Royals. So far I've just researched things on the internet and got lucky I think haha. |

I also have it, good read, but sadly the £50 isn`t justified in my opinion. |

Me too! Mine cost me £45 secondhand, but it was really pristine condition and hardback, printed on heavy glossy paper - about the best quality book I own, and I've got hundreds, that's my other addiction.
Hi, Kylashnikov, I reckon Surrey Pet Supplies is offering it at a very fair price, unless you get lucky on Amazon. The book doesn't seem to be in print in the UK - I got no trace of it on the WH Smith website.
One thing you could do to obtain a sneak preview would be if a rep shop in your area has got copies on display; failing that, public libraries used to do a request service, whereby you could request a book and even if it wasn't in stock, they would obtain it from another library and loan it to you as per usual. Worth a try, if they still do this.
ps, amendment - useful info:

I haven't read this particular one - he's written two titles that I know of - the complete ball python and ball pythons in captivity, but anything he writes I reckon will be good - might just order this one myself. |

From what I remember when looking this is just a slimmed down version of the complete ball python, it doesn't have the full morph section though, all the other important information is there.

It's a shame it's so expensive, I'd love to own it... It sucks being a student in part time work. :( |

So... this £8.36 one is the Complete Ball Python without all the genetic stuff? Wish I'd known - I'd have been perfectly content with that, at a fraction of the price. I learned some genetics when breeding Siamese cats (I even knew about Mendelian recessives lol!) but royal python genetics make my brain hurt! |

I think I'm going to take the plunge this weekend and buy it from Surrey Reptiles. I should have been paid today, hopefully learning the genetics will be able to make up for the cost of the book one day. |
