I brought Kinky home on Tuesday and was planning on waiting a week before offering her a feed. But she is so tiny (only 90g!) and the shop weren't able to tell me when her last feed was, so I'm wondering whether to offer her a small mouse tonight? I don't want to do it too soon and set myself up for a refusal though....

Do you think it would be okay or am I best off waiting a few more days?

Personally I'd just wait, Royals are great at going long periods of time without a feed and the settle-in period is very important.

Oh.... and another thing.... I got my corn snake as an adult and he is fed one large mouse every 7-9 days.
With Kinky being so tiny, would I be better off offering feeds every 5 days?

I feed my small ones every 5 days until they reach about 700-800g then take it down to once a week, then at about 1.4 kg take it down to once every two weeks.

Awesome.... thanks Kelfezond. I'll wait until monday then and go with every 5 days - she is so small it's hard to imagine her ever reaching 700g!!!

Haha yeah I know how to feel, Diablo was critically underweight and had to be assist fed, I weighed him yesterday and compared to blackechoes weight graph he's just made a new record for 9 month old royals :D

Dont even offer mice, go straight for rat pups, you`ll save yourself loads of grief when snakey is bigger and your trying to switch over to Rats.

I always drop a rat in straight away, then it is up to the snake. I don't even attempt strike feeding, just leave it at the mouth of their cave. If it's gone in the morning its a bonus, if not it was only one rat wasted.
