I know there's the rule of feeding every 5 days if the royals under 400g but is it ok to feed more often than that?

I only ask as we fed Dio on thursday but today ,only 3 days later, when we got him out and since we put him back he's been acting like he wants feeding again. He especially went into 'hunting' mode when i was cooking dinner. We did decide not to feed him as his last mouse was 34g and he's only 277g and don't want to make him too fat lol.

they are opportunistic feeders, so would prob eat every day-2 days if you offered, our guide is so they do not become overwight, or are powerfed. i now breeders that feed every 7 days throughout there life, and others that do feeds by weight. but i wouldnt feed more often than 5 days

Yes, I have snakes who BEG to be fed before time - especially if they sense/smell other snakes being fed, but the 5 day (or more depending on weight) rule is a good one; it gives the snake a chance to digest and crap (depending on species) before its next meal.

My maths is bad but a 34g mouse for a 277g snake sounds fine - 10/15% of body weight??

I've heard before of royals who guilted their owners for cooking dinner - especially chicken nuggets. They're crafty little gits lol!

I've been told that so long as the previous meal has been digested it's okay. I personally wouldn't do more than 5 days though, digested or not.

We didn't think it was a good idea but it's hard to resist when he keeps coming over to the glass everytime i walked past his viv and looking at me with a look that clearly says feed me mummy lol. He will have to wait until Tuesday for his mouse.

He seems to like the smell of ham and beef. He's never really taken much notice of chicken. He's also started poking his head out everytime i open the fridge and freezer so i'm guessing he's leatning that that sound means thats where the yummy mouse smell comes from lol.

Little devil! It's hard (as I know from my own experience) but resist him - otherwise it just buggers up his digestive system/causes obesity.

And it's good that he's greedy - much better than fasting lol.

Yeah it is good that he's actually wanting to eat. He's had 5 feeds in a row now with a shed in the middle of them. I hope this means he's going through a growth spurt.

Cerberus was like that then he started refusing two or three then eating two or three, so now I tend to feed him every 10 days and I've found up to now anyway that he doesn't refuse any more lol

I only give my big girl a 120g rat every 6 days. But she is still gaining weight so I may start to mix some large mice into the equation so she feels fed, but doesnt keep gaining too much
