 5 month old python will not strike

please help my 13 yr old son has a 5 month old male python & he will not strike we have 3 in total & the girls strike fine
we are having to false feed him every week & my son is starting to get very upset now
we have tried braining & heating up the nose but still he wont strike please help
(we do defrost in warm water & then leave to go cold like we were told to do )

Careful double posting is punishable by death, I think the moderator/hitmen can be called off with jaffa Cakes though.

from what i can gather ball pythons are a lazy eater any way and if they are force fed then maybe he just lazy, try leaving for a few weeks then defrost as usual when defrosted dip in hot water and make him work for his dinner,feeding just outside of his Strike zone for a few strikes then letting him have his dinner

If you are assisting him physoically with a feed each week there is a possibbility that is what is putting him off his food, force and assist feeding is very stressful for a snake and a royal is fine going weeks without feeding you should only interfere if he is beginning to lose weight otherwise he should start feeding himself soon enough.
