I have left it in there till i go to bed and will see then if it is gone, but it does not matter if he does not take it...he will when the time is right.....i hope |

Spot the royal is eating well enough, (we did give him a fortnight to settle into his new viv mind you).
But
Buffy the hoggy has been three weeks and he is usually regular as clock work. He is active enough and looks fine so I am not overly worried. He has a tendency to go off food for a month every winter anyhow.

You can take Peanut off this list now. I was clearing some dried moss from near the moss box this morning and he came out rather quickly, like he does if i feed him in his viv...so i decided against all i was going to do in waiting and defrosted a rat pup for him...using GP's methods as i like it that the whole pup is warm rather than just the head, dangled it and bingo it is gone...so Peanut today had his first feed since he has had this RI....
I am chuffed to bits for him... |

he is a good boy isnt he , I knew he wanted food as he does not normally bother if i do a bit of cleaning whilst he is in his hide. This is the first time he has ever fed in daylight.
Sorry to hijack this thread.
BE should i go every five or seven days and would you give bigger than a rat pup next feed? they are small pups. I am not rushing him, just dont want to starve him... |

I very nearly joined! Last night, again, Fernando wouldn't strike. When he started to look as if he wanted to escape, I put the rat in the rub with him, and put the rub in the viv. It took well over an hour, but he did eventually eat it. It's great that he is eating, but I would like him to strike, as that is so much more interesting. I'll try a different tactic next week! |

I'm almost out of the club!
My pastel ate today! Not just one but TWO! Yooo hooo!
I still have that hissy hognose on hunger strike. But, I think he's brumating, so that might take a while. |

This is a good thread, hopefully it will stop people from worrying so much about the natural fasts that Royals are prone to. |

Got a feeling my hoggy is doing the same, he normally goes earlier in the year but.... |
