ok so i got 2 canopies for my exo terra's and there were a night glo and a few day glo bulbs included . just wondered if i can leave the night glo bulb on all night and turn it off in the morning ? i arent going to bother with the day glo ones as the geckos sleep all day . but from the box the moon glo says u can use for nocturnal viewing and it provides a gentle night time temp , so im assuming its safe to use all night ? i dont want to freak them out , its a black bulb and provides a gentle blue light , which im also told they wont see ? have i got this right ?
thanks

I've never been a fan of exo terra bulbs,Well the fancy ones anyway. The normal bulbs etc are good.

Anyway just never found they really do alot for the costs.I tried the exo terra halogen bulbs in my canopies,And at £13 each they suck and give of crap heat, then die after a short time.

does a gecko need an expensive moon glo bulb, and geckos can see blue light right?that looks nothing like the moonlight :P

I didn't buy them I got the bulbs with the canopy and just got a second canopy as u had extra bulbs . It seems to give off a slight amount of heat it seems . I just wonderd if they are safe to leave on all night as the box suggests

I've had one in my beardies cage as a source of night time heat, for the past two and a half years since he's not supposed to be able to see the blue light, and I'm guessing thats the case because he's slept happily every night since I've had him, so since there would be a certain amount of "moon light" in the geckos natural habitat so in my opinion go ahead and use it

if you have them give them a try,See what heat or affects it produces.

Mine is a 40 or 60w and it keeps an average temp of 65f in a 4x2x2 when needed like D3l says come the winter they will need some kind of heat source so give it a go and see what you think ;)

If you didn't want to use a mat for the night time heat and the moon glow doesn't do it for you, you can always use the infa red bulb that some of us use for our pythons not forgetting to guard it though assuming it's in the cage with the geckos (can't remember what the exo terrsas are like :-)
