Thanks! The background is a disappointment though. The only one they had that wasn't under water was 6 inches too short and they won't be getting that one back in until after Christmas! So couldn't really say no.

mmm i see, u can put the background in midlle, and cover the white back with the same material u used in the both sides(the one it looks like wood), could be a good idea maybe.

I've heard/seen more casualties of snakes with a heat guard than without

Name one!

A bulb needs a guard the surface of a bulb will be about 80oC the guard about 35-40oC (tested using a pro rep light guard and komodo IR 100W bulb, also tested with a 100W Komodo Ceramic bulb too bulb surface 120oC Guard temp 45-50oC). The guard gives the snake vital seconds to feel the rise in temperature rather than instantly burning the flesh. You go wrap your hand around that bulb and see what happens, do the same with a guard and you'll see why they are so important and at £20 at the most there is absolutely NO excuse for not fitting one.

Name one? Okay. My brothers royal managed to get inside the cage. And cooked itself to death. How it got in there is a mystery.

im with bob you need a guard. maybe the snake squeezed through the holes in the guard or it wasn't fitted correctly

I also have a rescue royal, and he has heat scars that will never fully heal over. Dont risk it, its just not fair to your pet

Tbh, a lot of the ready made guards have tiny holes, so doubt a royal would fit through them at all, and even if you make your own, get smaller holes so it cannot fit through. They are needed!!! no matter what people say
