Yup - they can sometimes be a little slow on the uptake, bless them! (Or should that be the downtake lol.)

I have a corn snake with one eye who is straight on to her mouse - and then goes round and round and round, plays football with it, and has been known to eat it 8 hours later!

Some of them grab the rodent at the wrong angle and slowly mouth it round until ...finally...they actually swallow it! Snakes eh?

yeah, sometimes they just act like they need a knife and fork! Mine takes FOREVER to swallow no matter what size prey he's been on (he used to be on too small and still made a meal of it!)

Don't worry... as long as he eats it, it's all fine i'm sure :)

They are dosey little buggers sometimes. I've seen the straight for the head approach, eating bum first, creeping jaws right round the body finally finding the head and folding them in the middle and swallowing them that way or my Boas favourite game, the bite the tail 7046 times before eventually eating it. Try warming the head end up a bit more before giving it the heat pits should guide him in that direction.

It can vary on the snake - some feed quickly and others like to take their time, just have to accept it :)

Blitz did that couple times (one time he bored searching for the head so he decided to eat the hamster from the back to the head ) then he learned to go straight to the head, he strick to the head directly and then swallow it with no problem.

one way to help their aim can be to heat the head area. you will often find that they will work around the snake trying to work out the direction of the fur to "find" the head. Some are constant "arse" first eaters....
