As per the title, can our snakes catch colds or other infections from us? I've currently got a cold that im fully expecting to turn into a chest infection as my little girl currently has one of those!
I've not been handeling Charlie for the last week-ish as he has shed and fed, but was hoping to tonight.
And i suppose the other questions i should have added is, is there anything that its not safe for snakes to inhail? We have been using olbas oil and tea tree oil in a vaporiser to try and help with the various illnesses.
I've never heard of a snake being able to catch a human disease - generally something like a cold or respiratory infection is a virus specific to a particular animal. Such as cats; I couldn't catch a cold from one of my cats or vice versa. Although salmonella, something else entirely, will spread itself everywhere if it gets the chance.
Certainly anything coniferously aromatic is not good for snakes; unless I knew it was okay I wouldn't take any strong scent near a snake; I don't even use cologne if I expect to handle a snake that day.
Hope you and your little girl recover soon and that your missus doesn't catch the lurgy!
Thanks for that, thought it was the case but wanted to check. Will stick to using the vaporiser upstairs as the snakes are downstairs. Not been using it much during the day as the wife doesn't really like the smell, but its handy to help the little one sleep.
Personally I find a combination of beechams and whiskey works a treat, but that's frowned upon for a 3 year old apparently ;)
