He's just a gorgeous guy! What a beauty!
I will retaliate in a couple of days hopefully with some pics of the Princess Ziska ...she's still skulking in the aspen but should be any day now - I'll know as soon as I see a loooong body-stocking festooned round the viv and a water bowl full of ...
You really got a bargain there, two of them lol, fab snakes. Any names yet? |

Ah that's good, good lad. No, I've noticed they don't coil very much and I think I heard it said on a video that they don't bother if they don't think the prey needs overpowering, which means that if they find a helpless infant mouse they'll just scarf the poor little devil down alive. In fact some sick soul posted a vid of a pit presented with a bunch of fuzzies ...as it took the first one down, the rest were cuddled up against the snake's belly, squeaking ...not very funny. I think maybe it's to do with being a diurnal snake - less privacy and more predators about so they'll take the grub down fast in case they're disturbed.
Ziska's been funny about food lately, likes to have it left in with her; if I offer it she's grumpy about being woken, but Shadrach's a tiger! Last time he put his head out of the viv for his small mouse and when I guided him back in, hissed for the first time. ('Don't talk with your mouse full, boy!') Then, you know I've said how gentle he is - mistakenly I put his water bowl in beside him after the feed - and he nipped me! I was so amazed that I jumped lol. Then of course told him what a clever boy he was, striking at his prey, only it wasn't prey, it was my finger, but my fault. I'll know to give him more time to get over being in feeding mode in future. |

Lol - he is! Tomorrow he'll have slept it off and be clamouring for armchair walkies again.
Brilliant vid - ewww I was eating a cold doughy sausage roll at the time but it had to go into the oven - I think I need my prey warmed or there'll be a regurge ...
That's just how Shadrach and Ziska eat, grab and straight down, no messing ...damn, you've got me wanting indigo snakes again, they're superb! |

I think there's a breeder in the north-west, or there was when I looked on rfuk.
Ewwwww barf ...yes, ALWAYS keep the rats away from the junk food on defrost night, in case of the midnight munchies after a few bevvies ...that cornish pasty were a bit tough ... |
