i don't use the lx ones but the vx, they are a bit taller at 525mm. my guards are also 230mm but with the slightly extra height in the vx ones it doesn't look too bad.
not been any help have i lol
i didn't buy my guards on line due to the fact that there was no dimensions for them. something they realy should do |

http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/komodo-ceramic-heat-emitter-black-150w.html
Just fitted my first ceramic and chose this ...
and here it is in the guard - sorry pic is a bit vague -
Yes, there's not a lot of leeway between bulb and side of guard, although the ceramic guard has a more generous depth than the infra red guard, and the depth is more important, as heat is more powerful from bottom of bulbs than sides. Shadrach the inquisitive has been fine with it, I must say.
This is the most generously sized bulb guard I've found -
I believe it's manufactured by pro-rep and this one has a humongous IR bulb in it ...sadly I can't find these guards anywhere now - Blue Lizard used to sell them. They ARE a bit more flimsy but for size you can't beat them. |

Thats the same that I use but the choice is a bit rubbish cause if you pick the 16cm one the bulb only just fits and if you pick the 24cm (which is really for the ceramic bulbs) you don't get a lot of room between the guard and the bottom of the viv |

I tend to fit a heater about 9" along from a 3' viv's hot end's end panel and half the depth of the roof - BUT that is only my personal decision - may not be right.
Oh and I do measurements and drill pilot holes for guard before assembly and then ...blow me, the damn pilot holes are never right!!!! !!!

i have my bulbs 6 inches in from the end on the hot end and 6 inches from the back. i don't put them in the middle as i have a light in my vivs too which is 6 inches in from the hot end and 6 inches back from the front.
as bats says drilling all the holes before you put the top on is easier, i didn't work this out until i had put one viv together, should have realised this before i put it together being a joiner lol
i have only used 2 different types of ceramic, the exo terra flat ones and the lucky reptile dark spot. the exo terra ones are shorter but wider so the 250w don't fit in my guards. the lucky reptile ones are longer but not as wide so the 250w bulbs fit inside the guards |

Hi. sorry, I don't know - I've only ever bought the 150w. I know light bulbs often vary in size (which can be irritating) but not sure with ceramics. |

No problem, think I'll go with it for now and see how it looks once all the decor is in.
