Loki's behaviour has changed, over the last week or so he has stopped coming out and having a wander around his faun. He I used to come out every evening about 9.30 and be very active and busy during feeding day but I haven't seen him out for a week or more. Any ideas why he has gone into hibernation? Could he be depressed? |

Maybe he is use to the surroundings in the faun, You could change things around to keep him exploring his faun :) |

My royal did the same, he used to come out most nights but now I rarely see him, he just sits in his hides. Which is what in the wild they spend Most of their time doing. I only really see him when it's feeding Time or when I get him out for some excersise He does however sit with his head out of his hide most nights

Hi, how old is Loki?
He may, even if he was born only last year, be starting to do the mating season fast. I find my royals are very antisocial at this time - they are different snakes entirely. This is completely normal - even if us humans feel rather rejected lol.
Alternatively he could be going into shed.
Whatever the reason, he will eventually return to being sociable Loki, I promise! |

Could a shed just be on the way?
Maybe its a bit colder in your house at the moment with the colder weather.
Maybe its just a Royal Python!
I don't see any of my snakes, I know they are moving about, they are all eating and healthy they are just not active animals. I think there is a lot of confusion about active snakes, I look at an active snake as an unsettled snake, my lot do move about but they aren't what I would call active at all, I class that as content and feeling safe and secure. |
