we've had monty a couple of years now without any problems an used this sites wealth of knowledge many of times as we have learnt about keeping royals. normally when in blue we change the orchid bark which bumps up the humidity and he has had full sheds everytime with us having previously shedding like confetti with the previous owner. monty this last time, two weeks ago caught us unawares an shed without us realising an having chance to bump up the humidity by changing bark. after searching the messy shed didnt find any eyecaps. one eye is shiny the other is almost frosty looking. bathed monty tonight and left in a pillow case for twenty minutes and gently tried to swap off the dull eye with a cotton bud to no avail. monty was great and really tollerant whilst this was being done but nothing seemed to have come off. what is the next step. thanks in advance.
thanks mate. the eye does look totally different to this though. it hasnt cracked and is almost as if there is nothing there, just not shiny like the other one.
If it is the first one I genuinely would leave it be, if it fails to come off the next month then I would use visotears to remove it. You can often cause more damage in trying to remove than you do leaving it be. All the stress of attempted removal isn't really worth it in my humble opinion.
will try and add pics tomorrow, just looks like a misted up window where as the other is a shiny black. how do they deal with this in the wild, surely there isnt a whole host of one eyed blind snakes roaming around.
