OK so here is my thinking. I was totally dismissive of this aggression thing due to feeding in the viv BUT now I'm not so sure. Sanke since moving into her vivarium has been a good little snake, I out of laziness fed her in her vivarium at the weekend, I had a million things to do so I fed her in her vivarium. This week she has been a nightmare, every water change has resulted in an attempted bite, I open that door and she is out like a flash. Luckily I'm not scared of her.

Now I could see this as a coincidence but out of interest I will be seeing how she responds to not been fed in the viv over the next few weeks and see if she calms as the memory of breakfast in bed fades.

I've never experienced any aggression from any of mine, they're all fed in the vivarium and I have 6 now. Might just be lucky on my behalf.

I feed both of mine in a separate tub, except once when Fea was deep in shed. I'll be interested in the results Rob :)

Its good to know Kelf, cos there will come the day that Fea will be too big to easily move him to feed. Even now he's a pain..that tail wraps so tight around things..my watch strap first then a sheet of newspaper..damned if I could get either free lol

In hindsight, I should have asked him to change a light bulb!!

It maybe that its just a coincidence, as I say I'm very dismissive of this feeding in viv causing aggression. (on a side note I have just had her out and she was fine, post to follow on this too, pics and a revelation).

All of my snakes are awesome at the moment I'm so lucky, it's like I've got some calming aura for them I've not been bitten for months now and I take sooo many shortcuts I really shouldn't do but always seem to get lucky (like taking one out for handling in a room full of defrosting rats. Or not being arsed to get my feeding tongs from the other room so just hand feeding them all)

Haha extreme snake handler Kelf. See I'm also wondering if the dog is a factor in this, he has recently discovered the snakes and Sanke's viv is at his eye height so I'm wondering if maybe he is pestering her when I'm out. Think I may need to make the living room dog free when I'm not here. I do like to explore all the possibilities, she is a naturally feisty snake but its been a little bit more than her norm so I'm exploring the possibilities that something has her a bit annoyed.

I sometimes feed mine in his viv and never have any problem.... when i moved Kane from upstairs to downstairs he got really snappy, all i had to do was walk past his viv and he'd strike so i moved him upstairs and he was fine again.

Iv never had any issues feeding in viv, saying that he is so lazy that he only really comes out from his hide when he smells rat, I usually have to wake him up for walkies

I wouldn't necessarily call it aggression.

My snow corn Missy came with a reputation for 'viv defensiveness.' I'd only to look at her and she'd thresh about, strike, and rattle her tail. Never bit me though. In the last year she's become totally placid but she's always been very greedy. I've only to open her door for a water change, or even go near her window, and she's there - 'what you brought me???'

Today I went in to lift her out - and as my hand approached her, she nipped me. It's her feeding day tomorrow, and she was expecting something tastier than a finger. She made a mistake, and she didn't do it again as I obviously taste nothing like a mouse, lol.

I like to feed in-viv if possible; I feel that picking up a snake who knows its meal is in the offing could trigger a feeding response bite (it once did) and when it's not feeding day I've never had any trouble apart from that nip of Missy's today. If you can call that trouble.

Maybe Sanke is just a good feeder, and rather then it being aggression its just food food food food everytime you open the viv.

My hog does this everytime i place my hand inside, she's out like a rocket, and acts as if im going to feed her.Hope that makes sense lol,See how long it goes on for. Then change her back to feeding outside and see what happens.

Maybe she was just feeling a little grumpy,we all have our moments.
I've always fed Vader in his viv as his previous owner did,and to be honest I'd be daft to try and feed him out of the viv as he would have me for definite. Once he's smelt food he'll go after anything that moves.
Any other time though he's fine,he'll come over to my hand and make me jump at times but theres no aggression. I've always been careful and used tongs for feeding so he doesn't have any association between my hands and food though, what with him being a king lol

Lol - it's nothing, no blood - it's a case of blink and you've missed it. It was just a tiny little nip, more out of curiosity, and she's a good big lass for her age. Try pinching yourself with your fingernails, quickly, and you'll get the idea.

She was just trying it on, to see if my finger was edible.

Its not unlucky its Hogg Island Boa syndrome lol, they are known for a slightly nippy demeanour but so far she hasn't actually tagged me which is her choice as I'm not quick enough to get away from her. I've only fed in viv once due to laziness and it seemed to coincide with a slight change in attitude for a few days. She is now back to her normal self. (apart from the usual I smell a rat, anything that moves will be getting bit) , it may be coincidence that I did get a feeding response from her for a few days but she seems to have realised now its not food its just me.

Oh Duke feeds just fine in the viv. Wont feed anywhere else as it goes and he is totally placid. Must be a Sanke thing, moody monster!
