Hi forgive me if this is a stupid question... Here goes...

My girlfriend brought two corns last weekend and we were wondering if after the quarantine period if they could be out and near my royal without any problems, like one thinking the other is food and wanting to eat them?

I can't imagine that Kane would try to eat them; there are cannibalistic snakes, but as far as I know, royals aren't.

I said to Tasha that I've never heard if a royal eating another snake but wanted to be sure :) so you think they'd be fine?

I can't imagine why not - tbh I've never introduced my royals to corns, chiefly because I live alone and only have two hands lol - you know how quick these guys are - but I really can't foresee any problems; not like they're king snakes, who would snack on any snake they came across.

However - feel constrained (in light of own experience of latest snake developing first signs of mites after 3 weeks with me) to say - do observe a long quarantine period - some say three months.

Ah, thanks Austin - yes, the girl's not soaking at all now (this was misleading, as carpets are great soakers, I understand, and I thought it was normal, although I DID watch out for mites, but no sign until last Saturday.) So looks like she's much more comfortable - will just keep on with the Callingtons for the next month, and hope it doesn't spread to the rest of them, fingers crossed.

Not sure the mites came in with her - the little bleeders can come from anywhere, but very very glad I quarantined her from the start - always a good thing with any new snake.

Love names of your new girls btw - Ava and Alice - beautiful!

Ah well good luck with it :) glad to hear she's doing better Im guessing it's as annoying as when dogs/cats get fleas? I heard they can come from anywhere! I never knew this before last week, glad I do now though

Thanks :) Tasha named them as they're technically her snakes but they're gorgeous girls.

Thnks - yeah it is just like that - it feels terrifying when you first get them, but yes, you just get on and deal with them ...I've been dealing with cat fleas since the 1970s when remedies were just plain useless, but the first few days of knowing that snake mites were in the house were a errrm, MITE stressful to say the least lol!

Do wish the veterinary pharmaceutical firms would market those handy drops to put on the back of snakey's neck, as for cats and dogs though!

Ava and Alice sound fab - look forward to pics of them progressing.

Ha! Yeah they would be handy!

They've just been out for armchair walkies, (still love that expression!) got a couple of pics but they're too quick so most of the pictures came out blurry :( It's so much easier with Kane, he just lays there! He loves the camera! Lol
