I took Ra out to try help him lose the eyecaps, and he was fine, curled up under Kit's hair.

Then when I lifted him off we noticed him gaping, and the occassional clicking sound. There is no mucuous or bubbles, and now he's back in his faun, after roaming he stopped gaping and he's coiled up beside the water dish.

I want the vet in tonight :(

I think if just to put your mind at rest seeing this vet might be a good idea. I'm not even going to speculate a reason for it because you've said yourself no signs of illness other than the stuck shed. I would still get him plonked into a damp pillowcase and get this shed removed ASAP as its clearly uncomfortable for him.

I already have an appointment at the surgery for Weds, and he said nothing is likely to happen in 2 days. He went on to say that his own snakes do weird things with their mouths if a bad shed. Anyway he's back in his faun and not a single gape, all he's doing is hunting for a way back out.

Sheesh i'll be a nervous wreck, but his eyecaps are still on and stubborn pieces of skin on his head..the vet can remove them I think.

Its how they start shedding by stretching the skin from around their mouths, then they rub it off. He will be very aware he cant see and has skin stuck to him, he will know this and may be going through the motions of what he does to get it off normally. Have you tried the pillowcase trick?

Yeah I tried, but was getting stressed and so was I..then he rushed up Kit's arm and curled up at the back of her neck.
I moved him to a warm room. the warmest and after he cruised around he was disappearing into his moss box when I wnt to check.
I'm definately taking him on Weds, or tomorrow if he scares me again.

Warm end is 33c and that room is around 25c and humidity is at 80%

Thanks Rob for all your advice, I do feel a little happier :)

Aww you can see the skin on his neck, not sure about the eyes though its an upclose thing to see. Does look in good condition though.
