Hopefully will be buying my first Royal Saturday! I've kept a ghost corn snake about two years ago but had to give it back to the shop as I was going to go in the army. Didn't join in the end but didn't want to get a snake straight away as It wasn't fair. Got a job now and can't wait to purchase a baby royal. Any tips? Main one is what to house it in. Been told just a rub box and move to a viv when it's bigger.
Hello and welcome to the forum. I've had my two from hatchlings and rubs are the best for them. You can get lots of different sizes too so you can increase as the little one grows. Look forward to some pics :)

Rubs are great, easy to buy, easy to clean and heat. They don't look great but you can't win em all.
Best tip for getting a royal is to check that it's feeding ok, a quick check through this forum will soon show that non feeding snakes are the biggest stress among new and experienced keepers. Don't take a breeder/retailer for their word. Do you're homework and don't be rushed into a deal.

hey, i got my new royal last saturday hes grown on about 9 months old and i have put him straight into a 3ft viv,a rub would be better if your getting a baby, i went for a grown on snake because ive had problems feeding with babys. make sure you have a good look over your snake when you go to collect it. also read the care sheet on this site its amazing to get you started.and if anyone is wondering why i put him straight in a viv just better looking for me but ive rammed it with decore and hides so he feels safe. he loves it in there and hes feeding well.
