Oh, pits!
(that is pituophis - name literally means 'pine snake' as their scales are 'keeled' ie rough like those of pine cones, plus gopher and bull snakes - big fast stunning snakes!)
And carpets - soooo cool! Love carpets.
And of course if you've got the space and strength, boas, although there are dwarf boas too. (You have to quarantine these away from pythons though.)
Love Mexican blacks myself but have never met one yet ...maybe one day.
And a 5' corn, although regarded as a beginner snake, is pretty impressive, and very useful for recycling food during the royal fast ...though the above snakes will do that too of course.
But well, basically, every snake that takes your fancy, down to you lol. |

Ziska ate a small/medium rat last meal; she's on fortnightly feeds now and finishes up royal leftovers or else gets a couple of large mice - not really up to her weight but it's a mistake to overfeed gophers as they really are eating machines and run the risk of becoming obese - that girl would eat me out of mouse and home lol!
That girl would size me up and eat ME! |

You're welcome :)
Gophers do need plenty of room imo - Ziska's in a 5' viv - they're an active 'wild-type' snake and long and heavy bodied for a colubrid. Mexicans I don't know too much about but I gather that, though still lively, they don't grow as big as gophers and bulls and they're slenderer - perhaps a better choice if space is limited.
(Mind you, lol, I've been saying myself for a couple of years that space is limited in this house and that I can't have another snake ...so where did all these vivs come from? That is the trouble when you want another snake, or several, they come, and sod the sofa, it's taking up valuable viv space. You have been warned lol!) |

ive been given a large cuboard space at home it like a utility room of the living room so the vivs are going in there be great for winter to as i can shut the door and keep the heat in.can fit two or three vivs in and a good rack system lol i know what you mean tho if i was living on wy own id be eating and sleeping on the floor ha ha due to vivs and racking every where god help me if i ever get a place with a garage lol. ive got corey in a 3fter but gona transfer him to this 2 and half footer when ive finished it so if i get a goafer ill put it in the 3fter think corey will be happy in a smaller viv its alot taller tho so should be ok making it out of an old chest of draws |

Yeah its a toughy deciding which snake is next, I have always decided I want another snake and go to the reptile shops, one will always win you over, I've done this with every snake of mine except my Corn snake, I knew exactly what I wanted with that one, I went to have a look at some king snakes as I thought I wanted one and fell in love with a little Royal instead. Next I went to look at king snakes as I thought I wanted one and fell in love with a little Hogg Island Boa instead, then I was buying mice and spotted an albino house snake, I handled him and well guess what, I fell in love with him too and he came home with me that day as I had a tub all ready to go. So yeah I never did take to kings. lol.
The point been you dont pick snakes, they pick you. |

Aww Matt,
Not all Boas get huge, my Fea is expected to reach 5-6 feet, and a sweeter snake you could not imagine. |

I would love one belive me she has given me a room off the living room to put my snakes in but its only 4ft by 4ft ive got two 3 ft vivs in at the momant shes not a pet lover at all lol. I might just get one anyway then over the years it will take for the snake to get to adult size she might get used to the idea ya never know what will happen lol ill see. If they have a male when i go to get my new snake then ill get one ive told her if she lets me have a boa then ill stop at that but thats not gona happen he he sneak a few more in lol ill keep you informed |

You can get Dwarf/Locality Boas. They are much smaller than standards although they do need a little higher humidity and temperature, the general husbandry is the same. Mine is a Honduran, but there are loads of others. They grow to around the same length as Royals!
Hogg Islands are just gorgeous! |
