yes me to. i'm at work right now but looking forward to getting home and checking on him.
how long do you think he will be ok in a container that is approx 18x12x12" he's really quite small at the moment. like i said, hes only had two feeds. I want to make sure i'm really prepared to move him to his bigger enclosure and give him the space he needs/deserves. |

Aw he is small. Lovely little guy :) hell be ok in that size rub for quite a while. My two are both roughly a year old and are still in rubs similar sizes to yours. However I will be moving them up soon. You don't want anything too big as they can get stressed out by big open spaces. Again, nice royal :) |

I've been told already he is being assist fed. How can I get him into taking food on his own and how long does it usually take to make the transition? |

if he is your first snake then to be honest they shoulnt have sold you one that needs assist feeding but you are in the right place for advice on how to do it on this forum. make sure that your setup an temps ect are spot on, once hes settled for a week then defrost his food and offer it. if he doesnt take straight away then leave it in the cool end of his rub/faun overnight an see if he takes it then. also keep a record of his weight so you can monitor if he loses any. think bats has had to assist feed an some others on here will be able to advise you on how to do this if needs be |

I have just found out the snake is wf. Bit disappointed with this and feel quite bad. I've had a few wc specimens before but have been slightly put off by this. |

hi and welcome first of all. rite all the advice you have been given so far is spot on these guys are some of the best.but can i suggest braining the pinkie. ive had a wc royal before and it put me off royals for ages. but now im addicted and back in the game.there are two things that used to work for me one was braining he prey and two. now this may sound strange but if worked a few times for me get a large rub put a small hole in it just big enough for string to pass through.tie the string to the tail of the prey put your snake in put the lid on and twitch the string and the prey back. i first tryed this because i knew that it would be used to live prey and this would be the only way i could mimick this without putting the snake in any danger.if the snake does take the prey open the lid carfully and cut the tail off with a pair of sissors.yes everyone i know this is alot of work but if it gets the snake feeding then whoooopy lol. hope you get your little one feeding ill stop boring everyone now. |

he was hatched in captivity so has spent no time in the wild. However, being WF his "mother" would have been taken from the wild (at least temporarily) until she laid the eggs then released again.
or in some way the eggs where taken from the wild, hatched and then shipped over.
this is what im told any way. I would also like to add i'm really not happy about this practise. I wish I investigate more but he's here now and I want to make the best of it. |

Would anyone be able to hazard a guess on his age? The seller couldn't tell me unfortunately. He said he's unsure as they are wf. Bit disappointed with this as I mentioned.
The main reason I'd like to know is so I can monitor his weight as accurately as possible. |

Most probably a wf2011 as a shop would probably not have wf in stock longer than that and the wf2012's probably haven't hatched or sold yet. That's 100 % guess work as for a month hatching I believe can be almost all year round so well be neigh impossible to guess maybe if you check his weight on our weight to age graph and base it on the lower percentile you can get a good guess |

Im new to royals so generally quite concerned/worried.
my guy literally only comes out on the odd occassion at night. what should i do to help him settle in? his temps are spot on humidity is fine. handling has been left to a minimum.
im tempted to just get him out and start handling him to get him used to me like i do/did for my lizards (leopard geckos, crested geckos etc etc). at first they were neverous, then got used to me and started coming out of their hides more.
will this just set him back? should i really lay off feeding him? i assist fed him last wednesday. he took to it really quite well. he weighs 60grams empty. i think he is this years hatchling. im monitering his weight but also i cant keep disturbing him if i'm meant to be settling him in. i keep lifting his hide to check on him as im worried.
when i lift his hide he curls straight into a ball. i stroke him a bit then pick him up and he starts to relax and get used to me. his tongue starts flickering and he gets curious.
im sure everything will work out and be fine but is this typical royal behaviour? ive had him for 2 weeks now. |
