Very true, I had to get him out the viv to feed Pandora, he wrapped around a platform leg and a log and wouldn't let go so I had to wrestle him away all the while using a snake hook to keep Pandora away as she was hungry, so exciting xD |

They got on great, was really surprising I've had snakes in together before, once with two royal males who had to share while a viv broke, again with mating pairs but I've never seen two snakes get on so well, Pilkington follows Pandora around all the time almost as if he was afraid of the new big viv, after three days they finally seperated and Pilkington claimed the platform, Pandora the floor.
Today was the only sign of any "aggression" and I use that term loosely it was more Pandora opening up her lady parts and annoying Pilkington for sex while Pilkington was too busy sleeping and kept moving away from her :P |

I'm not sure if keeping them together permantly will work Kelf, for two reasons.
Keeping with a female, I suspect he will revert to natural behaviour, and there's no place for human handling in the wild.
A planned hatching is fine, allows you to make some arrangements for sales, but if kept togther surely the amount of babies would be surplus to sale possibilities. You had problems selling Pandora's first hatchlings and the costs involved substantial. |

Since I have put them in together Pandora has only become more friendly towards me, I've been amazed in her change of behavior. Pilkington is always an aggressive boa that's why he was so cheap - some snakes just have an attitude. Pandora is a very big girl, she could safely handle two litters within a single year without any health problems so there is no health risk to her by being constantly available to mate. Her last offspring were difficult to sale due to the fact that I needed them sold a.s.a.p, they were a surprise and I had to first loan a lot of money to build a rack and secondly find the money to feed and house them all (buying hides and water bowls etc.) I now have everything I needed as well as the nice bonus of actually knowing if my snake is carrying babies or not, anything they yield will be 100% het for kahl strain albino which will aid in the selling, I've put thousands of pounds into Kelfezond Reptiles since I got Pandora's first litter and I'm certainly ready to deal with 40 baby boa constrictors now :)
Thanks for your input though I did think about these things primarily, and of course I'll always have a viv ready for him should Pandora show signs of laying or anything happen between the two :) |

*smiles* Then Kelf I foresee no major issues. You have all the equipment needed, and the time to spend especially as its your business, breeding snakes :) We all know that Boas are the bestest snakes, so yep baby boas can only be good. |

Haha I just wish it was a business that yielded enough profit for me to quit my job! Maybe one day, I think next year will be my first real year breeding, I should have a good 2 or 3 royal clutches then and hopefully these two boa's. I really miss some of those baby boa's from the last clutch, will definitely be keeping one from the next clutch that's for sure! |

I was thinking, if you want to be a full time breeder, have you considered breeding something less common in the local pet trade?
Morphs are great, but not in the average budget, a good steady income could be generated by sales of hognoses, corns, rat snakes etc. and keep producing Royals and Boas for the higher payout. |

I considered it but I really don't have a lot of room to breed so I generally want to stick to what I'm specializing in, I only have one room for breeding and it's quite a small room. Although I did promise myself that I'd get another breeding pair of something soon (possibly GTP's or Amazon tree boa's) |
