Been to Edinburgh zoo today while im up in Scotland for BSB tomorrow and was very disappointed for one the only reptile they had was a milk snake then everything else was hard to see behind dirty glass that all you could pretty much see was your own reflection which i can do in the comfort of my own home lol then there's the fact its not very child friendly if you need a pushchair for your little one and the pathways in some places were overgrown so all in at £15 a ticket i was expecting something a bit better. so paid a visit to aquacadabra to let the little one see some fishys and snake and me of course lol. what zoo's do you guys recommend visiting in the UK obviously London zoo is a must is there anywhere else?

One that caters to our specific interest is a reptile zoo in Kilkenny, Ireland. Its another great reason to visit Ireland too.

Its on my things to do this year list, planning on going down in about a months time.

chester zoo is definitely one of the best imo, have got a selection of snakes and lizards as part of other exhibits instead of in the reptile house but overall a huge zoo and well worth the visit. They've got 2 of the biggest retics in the uk housed with the orangutans, and a various ther species dotted around - i think they still have some emerald tree boas in the jaguar house :)

paington zoo is nice imo. they have a new ish croc house with different species of crocs also pythons, a big retic and african rock i think, boas among others if i remember rightly. its a nice big zoo, the majority of the animals have decent sized enclosures. its a full day out. not been for a couple of years, which is bad as its only an hour and half from where i live, i always enjoy going there.

wasn't too keen on bristol zoo when i went about a year ago. its fairly small and everything feels cramed in

agree with blackskull, paignton zoo is pretty good. got a decent reptile bit and quite alot else going on aswell. theres even a little building up by the tortoises that is a nursery for all the hatchies/eggs so you can go see them fresh from the egg.
