Wasnt sure which thread to stick this in, but I am thinking of buying a madagascan ground boa which requires high humidity. My only problem is I dont know what kind of viv to go for. Cant seem to find a glass viv big enough for an adult, and ive heard that wooden vivs dont last long with constant high humidity. which makes sense, but is this true?
Madagascan ground boas are smaller than commons, similar size to hog islands and dumerils, so need 5-6ft viv.
Can anyone recommend anything?
Thanks for the help. |

you would want a viv that doesnt have big screw fitting on the inside like the vivexotics an then seal the edges and give it a few coats of varnish so that no moisture can get in. i did read something a while back where someone had basiccaly made a sealed plastic box type thing that fitted within the viv, will see if i can find it for you |

That is a good idea, I hate DIY, but doesnt look too taxing so definitely an option. |

Youve got me started now, didnt realise people made vivs out of this stuff. Tempted just to buy one coz I'll make a pigs ear of it. Here are some of the options tempting me, anyone used either of these?
Pennine plastic vivs http://www.reptilepetsupplies.co.uk/vivariums/plastic-vivariums/pennine-plastic-vivarium/
Henderson vivariums http://www.hendersons.co.uk/vivarium/plastic_vivarium.html
The Henderson ones look great, bit more pricey, but probably worth it. |

It wouldn't take a DIY wizard to order a few bits of glass and seal it together with aquarium sealant and then fit runners for glass doors. I'm looking into a partially frosted glass extension for my stack for the crestie and a GTP the glass section will be totally sealed/self contained and then encased in a wooden frame to blend it in with the stack as it is now. Its not that I'm good at DIY I'm good at planning, getting everything prefect in the design then it should just all go together without an issue. |
