went back to one of my local rep shops today to try and have a look at the savu or sawu pythons and the bull and rat snakes they have in.
but upon asking the guy in shop if i could have a look at the savu's he searched the viv and could not find them then proceeded to phone staff members to see if they had sold them which they hadnt so its a bit of a mystery as to where they went(possibly stolen) was a bit dissapointed as was looking forward to seeing those in particular so moved on to the bull snakes but was told the nicest ones that i prefered were very aggressive and werent good if i wanted something to handle so again i was dissapointed as they were gorgeous so lastly i looked at the pair of yellow rat snakes which were about 4 year old and puppy dog tame and vey pretty indeed so i may have found occupants for one of my empty vivs at least im still very temped by the aggressive bulls as ive never seen them that colour before i will try find pics of the choices above and post them

Well i paid a deposit on the albino pine today and will get her at the end of the month it was hard choosing between the amelanistic(not anery as i thought) het white sided bull and the pine as they were both gorgeous but that little extra redness and size swayed it for me so im looking forward to xmas being over so i can pick her up :-)

It was quite amusing when it just latched on to his hand then a couple came around the corner and the womans reaction was great lol

bulls, pines, and gophers are usually very vocal but most will tame with regular handling once they have settled in in a quiet home.

if it were me id pick the bulls but then i love feisty snakes, more fun an like you said its the challenge of taming them.

my female beauty snake who i was told is unlikely to tame down is acctually quite calm now so am going to attempt to free handle her once the mites are gone and yes i will get someone to video it

Yes im swaying towards those choices as the pine was near on identical to the bull

I would not have any snake that is outwardly aggressive from the start, not like a nippy hatchling at their age I doubt they will become tame. The Anery and Pine sound your best choice to me :)

Called back to the rep shop to have another look at the snakes and to ask about paying a deposit to hold them until vivs are up and running so had to ask him about the albino bulls again as they are just gorgeous and he kindly showed me what he meant by them being aggressive by opening the viv to get one out to be met with a lovely albino bull attaching itself to his hand without so much of a warning lol. Now i have the dilemma of deciding what i want do i go with the trio of bitey bulls and leave them alone or get the pair of rat snakes? I now also have 2 more to think about as they just got a female albino pine snake that's pretty much exactly the same as the bulls but dog tame and an anery bull het white sided that is also dog tame both
juvenile. im going back with a deposit next weekend so have a week to think about it what you guys reckon?
carlb1981 Posted - 19/11/2012 : 09:40:38
Yes the 3 that are the same were all gorgeous im so tempted to get them or the white sided ones and take on the challenge of taming them

That bull is stunning!

im not a big fan of bull snake morphs to be honest that one looks nice an the rats snakes are cool.

i would love kingsville red bull snake if it were possible to get a pure one, not a morph but a texas local

if you like the bulls have a look for pine and gopher snakes same family as the bull pituophis think thats spelt right, there are quite a lot of pine/gopher morphs.
bulls are the largest of the 3 followed by then gophers then pines

Here's one of the bulls i think they were albino there was three of them

and one of the yellow rat snakes

the other bulls were white sided and can't find pics of them on the Facebook page or the sawu

bull snakes are great to own they get to a good size and rarely refuse a feed.
some can be very p***y but most if it is just bluff i have a pair that are just over 2 years old ivan the male is around the 6ft mark and a wimp dont think hes ever hissed at me but mavis the female is quite vocal an has tagged me twice both times while lifting her hide off so just a defencive tag once shed out an stopped hissing shes fine.
heres my 2
