They came out of their burmation the other week and so I gave them a nice warm bath and took some photos. Thought people might like to see them?

Kissing : )

Threesome...

Actually they like to 'lick' the water off eachother.

And my biggest snail, named Guylian...

Yeah, they're supposed to be really funny to keep right. I've seen them before and you can see some of their guts. They're mostly a kind of blue colour.

LOL - yeah, see what you mean!

As I remember it it was like a transparent fish with this incredibly delicate black skeleton - don't remember any guts. It was beautiful. They're not easy to keep though - beyond my expertise.
BlueDragon Posted - 20/04/2011 : 10:22:31
I find it funny how you like the look of fish guts but not slug guts! X ) I must be missing some big difference somewhere?

Umm... I find those glass catfish fascinating and yeah I'm interested in anatomy too, but slug guts? ...barf. (sorry) ...

Ha, Mummy slug won't give a squish!
BlueDragon Posted - 17/04/2011 : 11:24:24
Well, I thought it was interesting to see a see-through slug. But then again I'm very interested in anatomy 'n' all that.

Ah yes, but how do you think mummy slug feels now knowing you've squished one of her babies? ; )

I like Black Slugs when they have that bright red skirt. Red and black go well together, I think.

I once saw a see-through slug! You could see all it's organs 'n' everything and they were all nice colours like yellows and blues.

Oh, I missed that post - a see through slug??? Bleeaah!!

Um sorry about that slug, Bluedragon, but I'd known those petunias since they came out of the seed packet; it was the mother tigress instinct taking over ...
BlueDragon Posted - 15/04/2011 : 11:17:51
Aww : (

It's the er ... foreplay ...that got me.

Grrrrrrrr! I checked my petunia seedlings this morning to find a slug about 3mm long, tucking in ...

Squished!!!

n/a Posted - 13/04/2011 : 17:17:38

scubadude Posted - 13/04/2011 : 13:46:46

LOL Stumpy - many a true word eh? Yeah, I'm bipolar but after nearly 40 years on any med you care to name, I refuse to take that **** and have left the psychiatric system - hehehe! I was a pain in the whatsit when I was in it, believe me (fiendish chuckle.) Snakes are much more therapeutic!

Thanks for your remark re replies.

Zuri sounds pretty contented - good luck for the next feed though I reckon she'll take it no problem.

Hi, Bluedragon, I've fed snails before just to listen to them chomping - it's fascinating! I do quite like slugs really, only not when they're nomming on my flowers - and I HATE killing them.

X ) Glad you all enjoyed it. Facinating isn't it? Beautiful really, if a little bit... slimy.

I love Lepard Slugs, they're really pretty. They come in the house sometimes through the back of the washer, and I feed them lettuce or a cat biscuit! I know, I'm soft. But I like to watch them eating. I like to hear my snails eating. And I like it when they rasp at my hand, 'cause it feels funny : )
Have you been coverted to liking Slugs now BATS?

I tryed booting those plastic things in with my shoe-boots, but it didn't work for me : ( Glad they weren't such a pain for you : )
n/a Posted - 12/04/2011 : 16:26:31
Yeah, you'd know a slug was feeling romantic by the bulge in his polo-neck ...
Kelfezond Posted - 12/04/2011 : 15:38:45
That's the most amazing and disgusting thing I've ever seen
n/a Posted - 12/04/2011 : 15:37:22
Wow, that's hardcore porn, that is! I didn't know slugs got up to stuff like that!

Those are the slugs that I sometimes find in my garden - and they don't eat plants, just rotten wood and moulds and stuff. At least I don't have to worry about them being a pest. At my last house we had a terrific slug problem and I once measured a huge black slug ... 7"!!

A bit off topic here but I started building my viv stack today and what did I find in the kit? Twelve of those evil little plastic things you had all the trouble with when building your cabinet. If they weren't exactly alike they were close cousins. But I crunched them in with the heel of my Ugg boot, hehe!
BlueDragon Posted - 12/04/2011 : 11:20:53
You lucky burger! That's an extremly rare thing to see! I'm not happy X )

I think David attenborough's video of Lepard Slug Sex is the best, so here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhVi4Z6CjZk

Enjoy : )

I haven't read those books, but have been told before to read My Family And Other Animals. I will do one day, when I get five minuets!

Glad I'm not the only strange person around X )
