I have recently bought a ceramic heat lamp as advised by other forum users to replace my heat mat, I would just like some advice on where to place it?

I realise it needs to be at the hot end but right up against the side wall or back wall or a few inch away etc.

Also what sort of gap should there be between the actual lamp and lamp guard? mine when installed will be 30mm, is this sufficient?

My wooden vivarium measures 36"x18"x18"

Thanks for your advice

I found it a lot easier if you drill the holes for the cable and screws for the guard before you fix the top in place

My bulbs are about 6 inches from the side and back wall of the viv to the centre ( where i drilled the hole). That gap to the guard should be fine. Think mine might be a bit lower and i have no problems
