Posted - 31/03/2014 : 22:28:35 So another noob question...
Mrs snake is in shed yet I didn't realise this as I had left her alone as she was new. She's only partially shed but I gave her a wee bath tonight to help.
A lot came off or at least was hanging off her afterwards.I didn't want to pull it off and figure it would come off by itself as she goes about her business in the viv. I hope that's the right thing to do.
The humidity has been raised to around mid to high 60s since Friday. It's now Monday. So how much longer should the humidity be at the higher level? I don't want to cause RI.
Any suggestions? |

No thats not what i`ve said, If your temps are fine then your Royal will self regulate and be fine.

Hodgie - I'm confused - All the research I did kept mentioning that too high a %RH will contribute to respiratory infection.
High humidity combined with unnaturally low temps will cause RI. |

So on this website before you click on the "Enter forum" link, there are FAQs. In there it says that the shedding takes 2-3 weeks. So, am I right in saying that 2-3 weeks at this humidity level will be ok and shouldn't cause respiratory infection? |

Posted - 01/04/2014 : 06:41:44 I know it says it on the care sheet but keeping humidity at 50% isn`t actually correct for Royals, its much higher than this in the wild. Basically if your Royal isn`t shedding correctly then your humidity is to low. Crystal palace Reptiles keep their around the 90 mark all year long, and eggs are incubated around the same level |

Posted - 31/03/2014 : 22:54:59 I've never bothered with the bathing stuff,Unless its a major problem. It will come of by iself with the raised humidity, spraying the snake etc etc etc.
It's new,so don't go ott with the baths and messing around to much.it will come of :) Just keep the humidity up until it comes of.Which shouldn't be to long. |
