what's the best way/most accurate way of measuring a royal? when i get him out he never stays still/straight

i'd go with what matty said,put him along the wall or on the sofa and they will stretch out

Also putting them in an open space against one wall will make them sit flat against it.

They can also concertina so you can't be sure. I have never tried to measure the length really, I go with weight more.

You could measure the shed length and take 10% off, this will give you a rough idea.
