what's the best way/most accurate way of measuring a royal? when i get him out he never stays still/straight

They can also concertina so you can't be sure. I have never tried to measure the length really, I go with weight more.
You could measure the shed length and take 10% off, this will give you a rough idea. |

Also putting them in an open space against one wall will make them sit flat against it. |
