I've had my royal a month tomorrow
He'll have fed 4 times when he's fed tomorrow
He's about 3 yrs old I believe and just over 3ft long

How often do they shed and what are the signs? he has what looks like a small patch of dry skinn on his head

Check the shed to see if they are there. Well done on the feed and you deserved the bite

he fed on a jumbo mouse last night, as I had the mouse in my hand and opened the glass door he struck and got me on the hand, my first bite!!! It didn;t hurt but brought a load of blood!!! poor thing its my fault i suppose and I;ll never do that with a mouse in my hand again

how do you know if the eye caps are done?
Blackecho Posted - 12/08/2009 : 23:31:37
Congrats, eye caps and all?

happy days cheers for advice
Blackecho Posted - 09/08/2009 : 15:05:03
After the eyes and skin clear a bit you're looking at up to 7 days for the shed.
Simonas Posted - 09/08/2009 : 14:51:41
he hasn;t shed yet and skin seems a bit brighter???
karl Posted - 07/08/2009 : 19:07:11
If it's three years old you may find sheds are quite a while apart as it all depends on how much they are growing

i would just let him be then feed day after shedding
Simonas Posted - 06/08/2009 : 19:20:18
was going to feed him tonight his first rat or at least attempt to but removed his house and his eyes are all cloudyand skin dull classic signs of imminent shed by all accounts.

should I wait till skin is shed or feed as normal, this will be his first shed with me so all new to me

ha ha cheers for the posts, the only thing preventing me getting more at moment is a wife!! just got his lovely new viv today, so much better than the glass tank he was in, just finished setting it up and with a bit of luck he will settle nicely in there and prosper, just got to sort the rat feeding out!!!

lol welcome to the addiction, I convinced myself I was only going to have my corn, then 6 months down the line I added a royal, now on the look out for something else to catch my eye, (& time needed to talk the mrs round again)

I got Sofia, then Syd, then 4 Corns!!!! arrrgggghhhh I'm addicted but loving every minute lol

First guaranteed sign of a shed upcoming really is cloudy eyes, they then go clear and they shed usually within a week of that.
