Posted - 31/07/2009 : 17:29:35 hi guys, new here, hatched my first babies (3) about a month ago, 1was dead in shell other 2 seem fine but 1 hasnt shed yet??????? also will they heck as like feed, tried all techniques to my knowledge e.g scenting, braining to no avail so any info much appreciated.

Posted - 02/08/2009 : 22:25:37 cant believe it, theyve fed! the 1 that hasnt shed was a proper bugger and had to really push it down a bit but eventually ate on its own and the other started eating near enough as soon as item touched the back of its throat.

i totally agree Karl, but not all rep shops are as good as the one you spoke about, so your video is going to be priceless,

I genuinely thank that shop, made my life so much easier with some of the more challenging non feeders I have taken in. Thing is, when I finally try to do a video I hope it shows the degree of patience and the gentle pressure/force you use. This really is something I think people should be shown in rep shops when they buy royals. |

Hi Rob, i spoke to someone a little while ago about your babies, and what i got back was this..
Try them on live for three to four feeds, preferably multis if they can be obtained, once you have the gut recognizing (food which normally takes this many feeds, sometimes less sometimes more)..you can then start to switch to fresh killed and then defrost...i am told it is much easier switching when they are very young than when they are older.

tried assist feeding but not really sure how to do it properly and gave up after not long, not sure about how long or hard to be pushing the food and i would try live but dont know where to get baby mice/rats from.

thats what i alwaws thought BE,
but i have learnt on my travels that some baby royals dont shed till they have had there first feed.
so it might be ok. |

Have you tried live rat pups for the first couple of feeds and then fresh kill then f/t
