many thx every one for the help temps are now around 90.5f,put snake now in left her for a few hours and she took her first feed from me after about 3 seconds very happy now :)

at floor level and inside the hide were the snake would spend a lot of its time is a good place to check.. also the heat would build up a bit more inside the hide.

Its really frustrating Paul.
You think thats right and it goes up or down a bit more.
Also make sure your viv doors are closed.(or lid on)
madmez Posted - 03/08/2009 : 23:05:15
So should the temp be taken on the viv floor?
Thats how i done mine.
She trashes the bark everywhere.
Glad i set it the right way.

it that the temp now with out bark? if you can get your warm end up closer to 90 and your cool end up to 80 then you'll be flying. What is you stat dial set to? do not rely on the accuracy of it. If you can raise it a bit then do. But remember that it takes time for the temps to establish them selves properly so keep and eye on temps
Remmy Posted - 03/08/2009 : 22:13:14
Your warm end should really be around 90f
paul01609 Posted - 03/08/2009 : 22:03:23
sorry forgot to say cool end is around 75f
paul01609 Posted - 03/08/2009 : 22:02:27
got the temp up to 85.3f humid is at 61% will check up on the heat mat info
spor Posted - 03/08/2009 : 21:40:59
thats good to hear on the 50%. 82 is still a bit low i would say. What temp is your cool end? as above you could probably lose the bark for now and just go with the kitchen roll. easier to clean etc aswell.. what wattage is your heat mat? and what temp have you set on your stat?
paul01609 Posted - 03/08/2009 : 19:20:50
hi every one and thx for the help i have a temp of around 82f the heat mate covers around 50% of the floor.sorry what i ment was the mat is 4" wider than the tank
boze Posted - 03/08/2009 : 09:40:56
If its just for a wee one then I wouldnt use bark as a substrate. Keep it simple just now with some kitchen roll. The heat can easily get through it, its easier to see when shes gone to the toilet, its a lot softer for her while shes young and it prevents getting any bark in her mouth when shes eating.

And as spor pointed out, make sure the heat mat doesnt cover the whole base of the RUB, just up to 1/2 of it.
spor Posted - 03/08/2009 : 02:10:06
just noticed you said that the heat mat was to big for the viv in your first post. Now that you have it under your viv how much surface are does it cover? It should only be 1/3 to 1/2 of the viv floor area. as BE and others said heat might be having difficulty getting through the bark.
Blackecho Posted - 03/08/2009 : 00:27:35
What is the temperature on the viv under the bark? - It may be just that the heat isn't getting through the bark.
paul01609 Posted - 02/08/2009 : 21:51:52
got temp up to 82f now
lee2308 Posted - 02/08/2009 : 21:47:24
i would put a piece of cardboard wraped in foil under the mat to raise it up close to the bottom of the fuanarium
paul01609 Posted - 02/08/2009 : 20:27:39
many thx guys they flooring is orchard bark i do have at hand beech chips if you thin this is better?the temp and stat probes are direct on the top of the bark at the moment my temp is around 79.5F humidity is 60%
