Hi

My snakes girth is 4 inches. I've been feeding him large mice. Should i be feeding him something bigger now?

Many thanks
Sherrie

just scent the first few rats with mouse blood, works a treat. Your snake needs to learn that the new smell is food

We feed him once a week.

Was thinking about maybe feeding him more frequently instead, is this a good idea?

How often do you feed?

try putting the rat in with a mouse and leaving it to get the scent of the mouse...maybe drop down a size in weaners so it does not look so big to him...

As with the above posts I'd be offering rats around 40-50g.

how old is your royal?

might be worth scenting it with a mouse before you offer it...

if you have any mice left put a rat weaner in the freezer bag with the mice till your ready...

you will only really need a medium weaner 40-50g
shep6413 Posted - 14/08/2009 : 22:29:50
you need rats, 10%/15% of the snakes body weight, so around 42g would be suitable for your snake

thanks for that ill get some tomorrow.

move onto a similar sized rat weaner then start moving up. for royals a prey item as wide as the snake is at it's widest point is fine

He is 415g and is 30" long now. He's been eating mice in minutes now.

What is the weight of your snake, i think you should be feeding him rats now.
