hi,ive been seaching the internet for this answer and cant find it and came across this site...
Q.i have a royal that i bought and its not feed for 2months (all temps and rub set up fine) in the past with a prob feeder they take multis but cant get them back off multis so im thinking as my last resort to give a live so my question is which is easier to get back on defrost rats from live or defrost multis or defrost gerbils if i try live i always though they will want live then?cheers for any help if you have experiance in these options.

thanks a lot, i didnt know whether it was rat pinkies or mice pinkies lol. i was guessing rat pinkies. Rat pups???? Im guessing they the same, same size and everything???

i'm assuming that's rat pinkies? mouse pinkies could go down sideways!! lol!

when he starts actively looking for more food after he's just eaten you can him on two........ or just move up a size. i feed multiple prey items but not everyone does, it's down to the individual snake and keepers' prefernce

hi, i have a question based on feeding.
I am getting a baby royal python soon and i have been told from the shop that he has been eating one pinkie every 5 days.
i would like to know, how would you know when it is time to give your snake 2 pinkies a day, or say move up the next size however etc.
i dont want to be feeding it one pinkie every 5 days for ages and then realising that i should be offering more
thanks

so what would you say is harder convert from live to defrost or convert multis to defrost?

Plus multis aint always in reptile shops where you can get rats most places and with ease

But thats just my opinion and what i have heard and read

i have hered this too,and i have a royal that will only eat multis this is why i dont want to try my other problem feeder on them and thinking about tring live as my last option.

Yes i have live feeders that went off there food so i started back with the small stuff (rat pup live) then worked them back up then changed to fresh killed for a while then to defrost and worked for 2 of my royals

If i was you try live rat pup something small then switch him to fresh killed rat then to defrost rat and see if that helps i would stay with rats and not the multis

its a 08 its 600grams set up all fine as have it in a rack with 14 other royals all eatin fine.previous owner said good feeder on rat defrost so said try a live to kick it in feeding again,so just wanted to know "is it easier to convert back from live or defrost gerbil or defrost multi or defrost chick etc"? only if you done this out of your own experiance not what you've hered.cheers.

How old is it? How heavy is it? Do you have any pictures of your set-up? I wouldnt try live until youve exhausted other options like rubbing a multi onto a defrosted rat pup to scent it before offering it to the snake.

:EDIT: (Someone correct me if im wrong) Also I dont think 2 months is that long for a royal to not eat for, definitely not long enough to consider live feeding. Live feeding can end up leaving you with a scratched and bleeding snake.
