Posted - 16/09/2009 : 18:37:38 my stat on my heatmat has broke so temperatures are soaring. i cant get it replaced for a few days is it ok to turn the heat mat off and just use the bulb till i can get stat. the bulb has a guard. i just dnt want the heatmat to burn the snake |

Posted - 16/09/2009 : 19:53:05 Kerrie, you really are not having much luck with your snake set up. As a rule of thumb you should not use any heat source without some control over the temperature. I am sure in some of your posts the others on here have asked you to post some pictures of your set up,if you could do this along with a list of the equipment you have available it would be really helpfull for answering your questions and finding a temporary solution until you can replace your stat.

Posted - 16/09/2009 : 19:52:53 I would consider under 20*C to be possibly harmful, but not life threatening. Over 35*C could be a danger. If you keep it in a warm room until you get another stat it will be fine. |

Posted - 16/09/2009 : 18:45:20 unfortunately not but its only 25 watt and temp doesnt get too hot the guard is big and because of the smallness of the bulb, u cant feel any heat on the guard i just thought it would be safer her on a warmish guard than boiling heatmat shes 9 weeks old today so only small |
