Posted - 14/06/2011 : 13:12:24 I have just put a hole in the rub about 1/2 - 1 inch up the wall on the warm side to measure the heatmat temperature with the stat probe, but wasn't sure where best to position the thermometer probe? I was thinking slap bang in the middle between the warm and cold ends of the rub to get an overall temp half way up the wall?
Where does it need to be? |

Posted - 14/06/2011 : 23:53:57 With mine I have the rub directly on the heat mat. I then place the stat and temp probe directly on heat mat and cover them. Mat is then heated to 91F which gives me 89- 90F on the surface of the rub. The prob with stat and temp probes in the rub is that it's very easy for snake to lie on them and get false readings. |

Posted - 14/06/2011 : 17:16:02 it's hard to describe without pix but basically I position mine through a hole in one of the narrow ends of the rubs and sticky-tape it to the floor about 1/3rd of the length. This works fine for me when using heatmats and means its accurate no matter what type of bedding that particular snake is on. |
