I wouldn't worry about it, use the advice people give as a guidline, but don't treat it as gospel. I have to keep checking to make sure i've actually got a Royal, because judging by what it should and shouldn't be doing, its eating, shedding and crapping habits, i've got a completely different animal - in other words, they're all different and have different personalities.

With regards to vivarium size, again, use advice here as a guideline. Its not always true that Royals 'hate' open spaces, mine is fine with them, and always has been. From a very young baby, he's been in a 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 foot viv and its never bothered him in the slightest. I will almost certainly move up to a 3 foot viv next year, but he's already over 2 feet long and inevitably, the viv he's in will become restrictive.

A good idea is to plan for the lamp holder before you even put the viv together ...I learned the hard way as usual, but now, I decide which bit is the ceiling, decide position of lampholder and guard, predrill any holes, and even attach the lampholder/guard.

I like to attach the guard with those screw eyes from B&Q - then to change the bulb you can undo and refasten by hand instead of fiddling about with a screwdriver - once the thing is up in the ceiling you can't see the attachments without cricking your neck ...

the heat lamps etc can be a pain,But the viv is very simple to put together.Just make sure you place the holder for the lamp in a good spot.

LOL - my cat Emily sleeps on top of Buffy's viv! The eldest, Finn, doesn't take any notice of the snakes, but Mouse, his daughter (born before they moved in with me; they were all feral) is fascinated with the snakes ...the snakes seem to enjoy communing with her through the glass or shall we say they show no fear of her, but I'm still very vigilant, although Shahi bonded with Mouse before he did with me.

They have that effect on lots of people, my Mum was the same, she was really worried about been in the same house as Duke but after one day and watching how lovely and calm he was she held him. She then went on to handle my corn snake but didnt like him as he was 'too wiggly' lol, she wouldn't hold the Boa though, she has a bad reputation.
